Support The Supporters is a new online group for all those who are supporting a man through a challenging time, regardless of their gender.
We know that finding the right words to say, or saying any words at all, can be extremely challenging when supporting someone with their mental health. We also know that supporting someone through a crisis, long term or short term challenges, can be extremely isolating. This is particularly the case when supporting men, given the social stigma and lack of available services to engage in men's mental health in the UK.
Our Support The Supporters space is a judgement free online social space for people to share, connect and feel supported by others experiencing something similar. All of our groups are free to attend for adults aged 18+ based in the UK, and they take place online using zoom.
We know there's a huge amount of love and passion that goes into supporting others, but we also know that you can't pour from an empty cup. In order for us to truly provide the best support for others, we first have to find the right support for ourselves.
Support The Supporters is not a training session. We won't tell you how you should be supporting men, nor will we judge you for sharing the ways you do support them.
The group is a safe space to meet others who are experiencing similar challenges, share thoughts and feelings, and help to feel supported yourself.
All of our services are based around a peer-to-peer support model, meaning that attendees help to look after and support each other by mutual sharing and respect. Our facilitators are not therapists or counsellors, they are there to ensure the space remains safe and to help make everyone feel as supported as possible.
If you feel you would benefit from more extensive support such as therapy or counselling, why not check out our "Further Support" page above.
In order to sign up, you will need to provide your full name, phone number, and email address.
Please use your real name when signing up, this is for safety reasons and will not be shared. You may use a pseudonym when you join the zoom meeting if you wish.
Should you join the online space using a pseudonym/camera off, a facilitator will briefly take you into a private breakout room to verify who you are. This is to ensure your safety, and the safety of others in the group.
Your personal information will NOT be shared without your consent, unless there is a serious risk to your safety. For more information about how we handle your data, please read our privacy policy below.
